How does Dr Dianne Proctor decide if clear aligners are right for me?

Clear aligners are a discreet way for teens and adults to straighten their teeth. With clear aligner therapy, you don’t have to worry about the bulky brackets and wires associated with traditional braces.

But how do you know if you’re a candidate?

What Dr Proctor Looks For

When you visit Radiance Dentistry for an orthodontic evaluation, Dr Proctor examines your teeth and gums and takes digital scans and x-rays to assess your bite.

These are the mild to moderate orthodontic concerns that clear aligners may be able to correct:

  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crossbite
  • Open bite
  • Gapped teeth
  • Crowded teeth

When Clear Aligners May Not Be the Right Fit

Clear aligners must be worn for 20-22 hours each day, so if you’re unwilling to wear them as needed, you may not be a good candidate.

There are other instances when clear aligners may not be the best option for your smile and oral health, including the following:

  • Severe crowding and spacing issues
  • Severely rotated teeth
  • Severe jawbone misalignment
  • Active gum disease
  • Fixed dental restorations
  • Short or rounded teeth
